ABOUT

One person builds everything here. On purpose.

Cumberland Built is not an agency with a local phone number. It is one craftsman in Cookeville who builds AI systems for the businesses he grew up around.

From Tennessee Tech to the shop bench.

Matthew Peterson studied at Tennessee Tech, right here in Cookeville. While most people who learn to build software leave for Nashville or further, he stayed. The work at Stonecom, one of the Upper Cumberland's broadcasting companies, is where the craft got sharpened: building automated systems that run every single day in production, where a failure means dead air, not a missed standup meeting.

That experience shaped a simple conviction. The businesses around here, the shops, the firms, the contractors, the restaurants, deserve the same caliber of custom systems that big companies pay agencies six figures for. Not watered-down templates. Not another monthly software subscription that almost fits. The real thing, built by hand, for one business at a time.

Why a one-person shop.

When you hire Cumberland Built, the person you talk to on day one is the person who designs the system, writes every line of it, deploys it, and answers the phone when you have a question two months later. Nothing gets handed off. Nothing gets lost between an account manager and an offshore team. That is not a limitation. That is the entire point.

A craftsman shop stays small so the work stays good. Every project gets built like it carries the builder's name on it, because it does.

What Cumberland Built is trying to do.

The goal is straightforward: make serious AI infrastructure available to Upper Cumberland businesses at a scale and price that makes sense for them. The hardware store owner who loses leads every night the phone goes unanswered. The attorney drowning in intake paperwork. The print shop that cannot watch every local Facebook group at once. These are solvable problems, and solving them well for this community is the whole mission.

If that sounds like your situation, the best first step is the free AI audit. It takes about two minutes and shows you exactly where the opportunities are in your business.

Who builds it

Someone who actually knows Cookeville.

Cumberland Built is not a national agency with a Cookeville ZIP code. It is one person — Matthew Peterson — who grew up here, went to school at Tennessee Tech, and is building something specifically for the businesses that make this city run.

Every system Cumberland Built builds is custom to your business. Not a software subscription. Not a template. Something built for your workflow, your customers, and your specific problems.

You will work directly with Matthew from the first conversation to the final handoff. No account managers. No outsourcing. Just someone local who knows what he is doing.
